PM distributes 1000 electric potter wheels

first_imgPrime Minister Narendra Modi, on February 19, distributed 1,000 Electric Potter Wheels along with other pottery equipments among the potters at Varanasi.Creating positive impact on the lives of artisans, among whom the Prime Minister had earlier distributed 260 Electric Potter Wheels along with Blungers and Pug-mills. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under its Kumhar Sashaktikaran Yojana, has identified another 1,000 potters in Varanasi for distributing Electric Potter Wheels, Pug-Mills, and Blungers. Training of those 1,000 has already been completed. These 1,000 Electric Potter wheels, 100 Pug-Mills, and 100 Blungers will create 4,800 direct employments in Varanasi region as each machine provides direct jobs to four persons. Since Varanasi and surrounding areas have a significant number of Kumhar people, the demand for more Electric Potter Wheels have come in a big way after its distribution,” he said, adding, “We had requested the Railways to make use of these products mandatory at Varanasi and Raebareilly Railway Stations. We have identified the artisans for pottery with the help of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in the villages like Likhit, Saspole and Matho etc. of Leh region, which will create direct employment for 720 people. We have set a target of distributing another 10,000 Electric Potter Wheels with 1,000 Pug-Mills and 1,000 Blungers by March 31 this year,” the KVIC Chairman added.last_img
