Sam Curran, who was India’s tormentor in England during the five-match Test series, was sold to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 7.20 crore in a fierce three-way bidding war amongst Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore.Sam Curran made his Test debut against Pakistan earlier in the year and made an immediate impact. Sam Curran, in fact, was instrumental in England’s series win over India and was named man-of-the-series.South Africa batsman Colin Ingram too fetched big money. The auction witnessed a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad for the T20 specialist.Sunrisers pulled out after the bid crossed Rs 6 crore before Delhi bought Ingram for Rs 6.6 crore. In the bid for wicketkeepers, Heinrich Klaasen was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. Shaun Marsh, the leading run-getter in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008, failed to find any buyers.West Indian stars continued to rule the roost in the IPL auctions yet again. Carlos Brathwaite was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 5 crore while Shimron Hetmyer sold for Rs 4.2 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
