first_imgGeorge Groves believes he is a step closer to realising his ambition of fighting at Stamford Bridge following a hard-fought victory over Francisco Sierra on Saturday.Hammersmith’s unbeaten British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion came through a bruising encounter in California and remains on course for a world title shot.After the success of David Haye’s recent heavyweight clash with Dereck Chisora at Upton Park, promoter Frank Warren wants Chelsea fan Groves, 24, to top the bill at a London stadium in the future.And Groves, who boxes with the Chelsea badge on his shorts, is particularly keen to fight at the home of the club he supports.“That’s definitely my aim, no doubt about it,” he told West London Sport.“I was jealous of David Haye when he had his fight as I’d love to fight at a stadium – especially Chelsea.“There was talk of David fighting Wladimir Klitschko [at Stamford Bridge] and to be honest I was glad it didn’t happen, because I would have been so jealous!”See also: Bloodied Groves prevails in San Jose scrapFollow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebooklast_img
